, a non-profit organization, was the outgrowth of an EEO Seminar in 1969 by current and former Mid-Atlantic Region IRS employees united toward fostering equal employment opportunities for African Americans and other minorities with the Service.

The purpose of AIM is to educate all minority employees as to their employment opportunities for advancement; to foster equal employment opportunity for everyone within the IRS by any means available; to seek out and call to the attention of the administration discriminatory policies and practices and to cooperate with IRS administration and other employee organizations in taking lawful actions to ensure their removal; and to stand as united force behind our members in their endeavors at all times, giving counsel and aid.

The Houston Chapter of AIM-IRS was founded  in 1988.  Since its inception, the Houston Chapter has grown to 94 members.  In 2008, the chapter celebrated its 20th anniversary.  This achievement was enhanced by the chapter's receiving a plethora of awards including Regional Chapter of the Year, National Chapter of the year, and Chapter President, Gloria Gibson, being the AIM EEO Meritorious Award Winner.
